I was looking through the reunion book of my family on my mother‘s side and I saw a picture of one of my great-aunt’s and my great-grandfather inside the store that my great-grandparents owned. It made me smile. I was inspired.
My great-grandparents, African-Americans, “owned” a “store” and raised “six” children in Natchez, MS. (The Deep South)
My mother wanted to start her own business as well.
Thanks to Huntington, who offers “Free Saturdays” every Saturday in collaboration with the Flint Institute of Arts, I was able to visit the Flint Institute of Arts, at no charge. “Free Saturdays” is an open invite to all! You are able to view the entire institute at no charge. A great way to get out and experience culture and do something without spending money. (Normal admission: FIA Members: Free, Adults: $7.00, Children 12 & Under: Free, Students & Senior Citizens: $5.00)
Picture Rights: The pictures are my personal pictures taken with permission by The Flint Institute of Arts with my personal cellphone. Please do not take these images without my permission. If you would like to use the pictures for any purpose please contact me. Thank you.
Until Next Time,
