Jesus, The Least Of The Hungry, Thirsty, Stranger, Naked, And Prisoner

Jesus, The Least Of The Hungry, Thirsty, Stranger, Naked, And Prisoner

When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

For I was hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 25:31-40 KJV

When Jesus shall come in all His glory, with His holy angels, He shall sit on His throne, and before Him shall be all people, that He will to His left and right. The sheep from the goats.

It is amazing how Jesus called himself to the least of the hungry, thirsty, naked, sick, and prisoner.

It shows how much He cares for humanity, for the broken, for the least of these. For the one who isn’t valued or thought worthy enough to help. Jesus likened himself unto these.

What humility He has, what humility He displayed. Help us God.

The King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, The Great I Am, God the Father, manifested in flesh, called himself, the least of these.

Little did the righteous know until they were told they had been doing service to Jesus.

Jesus intently cares about the poor.

Jesus intently cares about the disenfranchised.

Jesus intently cares about the homeless.

Jesus intently cares about forgotten.

Jesus intently cares about the hungry.

Jesus intently cares about the thirsty.

Jesus intently cares about the stranger.

Jesus intently cares about the naked.

Jesus intently cares about the sick.

Jesus intently cares about the prisoner.

He cares so much, that He personally stated, you’ve done it unto me:

I am the hungry.

I am the thirsty.

I am the stranger.

I am the naked.

I am the sick.

I am the prisoner.

When you have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

He showed them His connection and His relation to His brethren no matter what state they may be in.

For I was hungry, and ye gave me meat:

I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink:

I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Naked, and ye clothed me:

I was sick, and ye visited me:

I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

The person that is looked down upon, mistreated, forgotten about by some of those who are fairing well. The person that has no food to eat, who is experiencing hunger pains, who hasn’t eaten a balanced meal. The person who is bottled over in pain. Sick. The person who is thirsty. Parched. No water to quench the parchness, the dryness. The person who is  a stranger. They are not apart of your family. Your circles. Nobody knows them. The person who is homeless. Doesn’t have a place to lay there head. The person who is naked, doesn’t have any clothing. Jesus said that He is them.

Be careful. Let us be careful. Lord help us to be careful and mindful of how view and treat others no matter what state or vicissitudes of life that they are in.

Let us be careful and mindful to feed the hungry.

To give drink to the thirsty.

To take the stranger in.

To clothed the naked.

To visit the sick.

To go unto those in prison.

It is so imperative that we are careful and mindful that we do these things that He showed us what will happened to those who do not do these things.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Matthew 25:41-46 KJV (Bold Emphasis Added)

Jesus told them to depart from him.  Not only that he told them their state, what they were, cursed. And He told them where to depart into, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.

He told them to leave, that they were cursed, and to go into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and the devil’s angels.

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat.

I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink.

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in.

Naked, and ye clothed me not.

Sick and in prison, and ye visited me not.

They shall also answer him wanting to know when did they see Jesus like this. His reply bore the same message as he told the rightheous, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

What Homelessness Looks Like For A Saved, Single, Female

What Homelessness Looks Like For A Saved, Single, Female: Four Items Total, 3 Bags And 1 Backpack

Save, Single, Female And Homeless

The Face of Being Without A Home

Over the years, the face of homelessness has been someone who lives under a bridge, unkempt, wearing layers of clothing, unemployed, using cardboard boxes as shelter, pushing a shopping cart full of items, unproductive citizens of society, seniors, runaways, etc.,  However, these are stereotypes of homelessness.

Some homeless people are college students, high school students, teenagers, church members, church attendees, working citizens of society, who don’t have the privilege, security, or pleasure of having a home. Their own home. A permanent place of dwelling. They are contributing to their life and to society, they just don’t have their own place to live.

For example, I am an entrepreneur, a college student, a blogger, employed, and I do freelance work. I grew up in church and attended church up to now, most of my adult life. I do not have a permanent place of my own to live. All of the things that I listed are contributions to my life and to society.

There are people who live in their vehicle, people who use a restaurant restroom or other restroom to clean up for the day and don’t miss a beat showing up to their job. Homelessness is real. It’s not a financial problem. Although, finances can “help” alleviate homelessness. I have come to learn, realize and understand, that the real source of homelessness is broken relationships”. Yes. “Broken relationships.”

A whole relationship, would genuinely take in the homeless person and help them to having their own home. But because the relationship is frayed in some way, where the person does not want to be bothered with the homeless person or does not want to have anything to do with the homeless person, or does not want to get involved in a situation of such degree, that homeless person is left out on the street to fend by themselves and for themselves.

Relationships are “gold.” We were not created to be an island to ourselves. If our most important relationships, such as family, friends and church sisters and brothers are not great, we don’t have resources to help us during hard times. Thus, the social system, government assistance, shelters, and the like who try to assist in the place of the “relationships” that should be intact.

I can go further in this from a biblical standpoint. I will just leave two scripture of reference that highlights the importance of “relationships”.

In Ecclesiastes, King Solomon, the richest and wisest biblical person listed outside of God in the bible, who God gave wisdom and riches, stated:

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.

For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. – Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 KJV

Do you know how wealthy help each other? Through relationships! Through networking! Through recommendations! Through references! Through contacts! Through information! Through referrals!

Yes, money will help! In some instances, how does money get to some or assist some people? Through “relationships.”

As you prayerfully go through life, I urge you to assess your relationships.

How are your relationships?

What Homelessness Looks Like For A Saved, Single, Female: Four Items Total, 3 Bags And 1 Backpack

Save, Single, Female And Homeless

Saved, Single, Female and Without A Home

What I did not want to mention or make known to protect myself, some people already know or knew. Why am I trying to hide it? Why am I trying to keep it a secret?

What I don’t want to talk about may be the very thing that I need to talk about. What makes my story so unique, so different?

I do. My background does. My experiences does.

I never thought that I would be homeless. Not just homeless, but experience  homelessness more than once as a saved, single, female. Who only knew church. I wasn’t brought up in a worldly household. I am paternal grandparents deep in this culture. A preacher’s/Assistant Pastor’s daughter. A close knit family structure. Two parent household. Entire family at some point active and serving within the church. Can you understand the culture clash?

I didn’t know the streets or the world. I was sheltered from both.

My upbringing didn’t say so, the culture that I grew up in didn’t say so, my family life didn’t say so. My associates didn’t say so, my circles didn’t say so.

I could even see or justify if I wasn’t saved or wanted to be in the streets, or wanted to live a street life. There’s nothing out here that I want. If I was unsaved and wanted to be in the streets and live a street life, I wouldn’t have to worry too much about a place to live or being homeless. The world loves it’s own.

I experienced and am experiencing a complete culture clash

Now, I can add, homeless during a world emergency that requires social distancing and self quarantine due to a virus.

Does it mean that God loves me any less, no. Does it mean that I have done something wrong, no. Does it mean that I needed money, no. (I found this out.) I found out via someone else who shared publicly on her Facebook Page or Facebook account, who found out via a Bishop who she did not name, the reason for homelessness. It’s not what we automatically think, finances or financial. It’s much more deeper than money. Broken relationships is the reason for homelessness.

What Homelessness Looks Like For A Saved, Single, Female: Four Items Total, 3 Bags And 1 Backpack

What Homeless Looks Like Bags2

  1. An amazonbasics black backpack.
  2. A BeBe duffle bag.
  3. A college library laptop bag.
  4. A Shop Small bag with an umbrella, books, and other items in it.

Four items total, 3 bags and 1 backpack, that I currently have to carry everyday. Sunday – Saturday. Some homeless people don’t have anywhere to store their belongings, so they have to carry them with them.

These bags are no joke, especially when walking. I would love to downsize. I would absolutely love to carry a purse and if needed a laptop bag. However, I’m thankful for the help, health, grace, and strength that God gives and has given me to carry them.

I Used To Be In AmeriCorps

I used to be in AmeriCorps. For my orientation with particular organization that I was to serve as an AmeriCorps Volunteer Service Member we were flown to Clearwater, Florida. During this great experience and orientation, we went kayaking. I was able to kayak for the first time in Florida. I want to say it was in Miami, and after sharing this on other social media outlets, it may have been Key West, I remember someone pointing out that Cuba was near.

This was my first time paddling the waters along with others I did not know before this opportunity. Florida is also where I tried Mahi-Mahi.

In this writing, I realized how great of an opportunity it was! I had never been to Florida before then and I had not been kayaking before then!

The Command, The Charge In The Name Of The Lord Jesus Christ, An Ensample, and The Exhortation To Work

Now we command you, brethren, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;

Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:

Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

This salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.

2 Thessalonians 3:6-17 KJV

The Apostle Paul was an Entrepreneur. From what I researched he was a tentmaker. He did not have an employer, he worked, as the scripture states, “wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you”.

I love this. It encourage me as an Entrepreneur. I have heard the saying, “If a man doesn’t work he shouldn’t eat.” given in regards to working a job. Being employed.

However, from the Apostle Paul’s ensample, he worked night and day, and from what I researched, he was a tentmaker. An Entrepreneur.

As a born again believer in Jesus Christ, you should not be idle or a busybody. You should be working and eating your own bread.

Fasting: A Solemn Assembly – The Firstfruits Of The Year 2020

This month is the month where Saints, Christians, Believers push back their plates and enter into a solemn assembly unto God.

plate-159469_1280

A separation from the world.

A time of seeking the Lord, denying themselves, dedicating themselves to the Lord, hearing from the Lord, petitioning the Lord, etc.,

A firstfruits of the year.

Fast directives are different but the vital things are that it is of faith unto the Lord and that restriction and denying of oneself; the flesh is taking place.

Many fasts were called within the bible. It served a purpose. It was unto God.

Fasting unto God produces results. Spiritual, supernatural, and natural. It is a tool, a key, that God has given us to use and to operate within this world, against our flesh (who is also an enemy, and against the devil.

With the number of God’s people fasting during this time of the year, we shall see results! And it is so!

Until Next Time,
