Tone Your Skin With This!

apple-cider-vinegar-3506650_1920

Years ago, I started using Apple Cider Vinegar, the kind that you purchase at the grocery store, that you use in your salads, that can be used to Bar-B-Que with,  in my hair within my natural hair routine.

During my natural hair research, I came across how apple cider vinegar helps with the porosity of your hair. So I incorporated it in my natural hair routine. While applying and rinsing my hair with the apple cider vinegar within my natural hair routine, I noticed how the residue of it falling on my face, TONED, my skin!

It is a natural toner! I incorporated it in my then and at a point later skin-care routine! (I do believe that you should switch up your routines. Your skin can become resistant to the product or products that you have been using, your skin can also change, and the product or products are not providing the results that you were experiencing before.) I would use it as toner after washing my face. Now the smell of it is something that you will have to get over or get use to, however, it brought me results.

There’s not a particular brand that I would recommend, apple cider vinegar, is apple cider vinegar, however, if you want a more potent type of apple cider vinegar, it is available, try a natural health food store in your area or Amazon, click on the  picture of Bragg Organic RAW – UNFILTERED APPLE CIDER With The “Mother”.

Please note, I am not a dermatologist, this is based off my own experience with my skin. Everyone’s skin is different and you would have to try it to see if it works for you!

So how do you try it? DO NOT APPLY APPLE CIDER VINEGAR BY ITSELF ON YOUR SKIN! DILUTE IT!

I used a spray bottle that you can purchase at the dollar store or any store for cheap. Dilute the apple cider with water in the spray bottle and spray it as a spritzer on your face and if you want to use it in your hair, do it this way as well! After you apply the “Apple Cider Vinegar Toner” rinse your skin thoroughly. Follow through with the rest of your skin care routine! Moisturize!

If you try the “Apple Cider Vinegar Toner” comment back and let me know!

This style is very easy and inexpensive to do! I used Kanekelon braiding hair to create the bun.

What you will need?

  • Eco Style Olive Oil Styling Gel
  • A Hair Band or Rubberband
  • Kanekalon Braiding Hair
  • Hair Pins

Apply the Eco Style Olive Oil Gel around and in your hair. Brush it upwards in to a ponytail. Using a hair pin, secure the Kanekalon braiding hair around your hair, twisting it around your hair, forming a high bun. Once you achieve the desire style, you can secure it with a hair pin or tuck the end of the hair into the bun (I was able to do this).

Product Review: Silk Elements® With Silk Protein MegaSilk® Heat Protection Spray©

In need of heat protection for flat ironing and styling my au naturel hair, I went to Sally Beauty Supply to find a low priced heat protector to use.  I normally use Sally’s Generic Brand of BioSilk for a heat protector which is more than I had available to spend this time around. Other than that, I would have readily grabbed Sally’s Generic Brand of BioSilk.

I came across two small size heat protection sprays that were priced under $4.00 before tax. I decided to try Silk Elements® With Silk Protein MegaSilk® Heat Protection Spray:

which was lower than I expected when checking out. At the register it rang up to $1.99 before tax for a 2fl. oz (59 mL) spray, with a total price of $2.11, a great deal and it was all that I needed at the moment. I just needed to straighten my hair.

After washing and conditioning my hair, I prayed over the product and sprayed it on my damp hair. I proceeded to blow dry my hair.

1. I did not have my paddle brush with me. (It preps your hair for heat styling when blow drying it. It makes it nice and tangle free.)

2. I wasn’t using the heat protection that my hair is used to.

3. I was using a new flat iron.

Needless to say, I wasn’t satisfied with the results of  the ends of my hair and the way the product made my hair feel. It had a more producty (not a real word, but you understand what I mean), rough, result rather than smooth, silk result that I am used to when using Sally Beauty Supply’s Generic Brand of BioSilk. The generic brand of BioSilk coats your hair. It’s thicker in formula and weight . And you have to pour it verses than spray it.

The Silk Elements® With Silk Protein MegaSilk® Heat Protection Spray states:

  • Helps protects from heat damage
  • Use with flat irons, blow-dryer, or any heated appliance
  • Provides a luxurious shine
  • For hair as soft and smooth as silk.

I personally did not experience a luxurious shine. It may be a product that works best on relaxed hair.

I tried the heat protection spray again on the same shampooed and condition set of hair, with small sections of my hair and applied the spray directly to each section and the ends of my hair within the section before flat ironing, it was noticeably straighter in some sections, but not the desired look that I am used to and desired.

As for know it is a product that is a last resort;an it’s all that I have to use option.

Disclaimer: I have not been paid by Silk Elements® to give my opinion and experience with the MegaSilk® Heat Protection Spray. I am not a representative of Silk Elements®. The product was purchased by me and used by me in my personal discovery of its use. I have not been paid by BioSilk to give my opinion and experience with Biosilk. I am not a representative of BioSilk. The product used by a licensed cosmetologists in the process of styling my au naturel hair and purchased by me as well, in the use of styling my au naturel hair.
